More than 80 years old, Yakut Mahal is Hyderabad's oldest surviving cinema hall. The hall has two "Peerless Magnarac Machine Projectors" manufactured by J.E.McAuley of Chicago in the 1920s. In the old days, Yakut Mahal was frequently visited by the Nizams and the Nawabs of the city, and there were separate seating areas for women and dignitaries. The theatre underwent a restoration recently. It is fully functional and retains its old world charm including a separate enclosure for women. Read more about it here. And if you want to visit it, here are the directions via Citynaksha.
